Franklin, David. The Rippling Wall. Aluminum and mild steel. 2014.18 x 92 feet.
Ripples expanding across water surfaces, the proximity of Fire Station 21 to the Willamette River, and ancient Columbia River Valley petroglyphs were all inspirations for this two-part art installation. Acting as both antidote and adversary, water ties the river to the work of the fire station in fighting fires and river rescue.
