New Work by Catherine J. Lee, October 17-November 17, 2008. Exhibition card. Pendleton, Oregon: Pendleton Center for the Arts, 2008.
Lee had been painting fields and vast horizons long before leaving the hectic pace of city life in 2005 to live in Condon, Oregon. Now inhabiting the landscape she long envisioned in her imagination, she examines its rich subtleties as changing light accentuates the figurative elements of wheat covered hills and deep canyons. “One of the most important elements I try to capture is the ‘quietness’ of the land in this vast open space.”
