The Peaceful Sea consists of an evenly spaced 12-by-12 grid of ceramic tiles that depict plants and animals found in the Pacific Ocean–phytoplankton, whales, turtles, mangroves, corals—installed at the Asian & Pacific Cultural Center at Oregon State University. Alluding to the meaning of the ‘Pacific’ Ocean, the installation aims to offer a sense of tranquility while evoking the wonder of diversity of life on Earth.
