Exhibit card showing installation with objects on floor, a video screen and a sculpture like Rodin's thinker

Michelle Acuff: A Topology of Thinking, January 24-February 20, 2009. Installation view. Pendleton, Oregon: Pendleton Center for the Arts, 2009.

In this innovative and unexpected exhibit, Acuff addresses the canonical architecture of the East Oregonian gallery through the assembly of forms and images from a diverse array of sources, including historic sculpture, the field of cognitive science, MRI imaging, and YouTube. The installation explores models of thinking and literacy, the cultural shift from text-based knowledge to digital knowledge, our corporal navigation of space, and its relation to materiality.
