Robinson, Greg A. Shayim Tamanawas (Grizzly Bear Giving Human Power). Yellow cedar. 2013. 21.5 x 47.5 x 1 inches.
This panel depicts a Chinook boy receiving spirit power from two grizzly bears. Spirit power was sought by adolescent boys, who spent five days alone in the wilderness. The power was not consummated until their song and dance was realized later in life. The power from grizzly bears is fierce and powerful and it is represented by the circular carvings on the panel.
